Serum bilirubin levels are negatively associated with atherogenic lipids in Saudi subjects with type 2 diabetes: A pilot study
نویسندگان
چکیده
<b>Background: </b>Recent research has demonstrated the possible relevance of bilirubin in metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Lipid abnormalities are a major problem that is related with an increased risk disease diabetics. This study examined relationship between serum direct concentrations atherogenic lipids patients type 2 diabetes (T2DM).<br /> <b>Methods</b>: cross-sectional included 67 39 matched healthy control. The lipid profile, including total cholesterol, HDL-C, TG levels, fasting blood glucose, bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP were measured using dimension EXL clinical chemistry analyzer (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics). Cholesterol VLDL, LDL, sdLDL calculated from standard assay results by equations Sampson et al.<br <b>Results</b>: Serum was lower non T2DM subjects nearly significant (p=0.0.51) whereas (p=0.008). levels higher groups. mean values LDL-C, sdLDL-C, HDL-C VLDL-C significantly group HDL-C. An inverse could be observed increase LDL-C (r2=0.139, p&lt;0.005), sdLDL-C (r2=0.137, (r2=0.074, p&lt;0.044), (r2=0.166, p&lt;0.002) group. same (r2=0.133, p&lt;0.006), (r2=0.172, p&lt;0.001), (r2=0.118, p&lt;0.01), (r2=0.182, p&lt;0.001) group.<br <b>Conclusions</b>: A negative association found lipids, suggesting may protect development disease. These findings indicate need for additional large cohort.

Serum bilirubin levels are positively associated with glycemic variability in women with type 2 diabetes
AIMS/INTRODUCTION Glycemic variability is known to induce oxidative stress. We investigated the relationships between glycemic variability and serum bilirubin levels, an endogenous anti-oxidant, in patients with diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross-sectional study was carried out with 77 patients with type 2 diabetes who had been recruited to two clinical studies from 2008 to 2014. There w...
متن کاملNo Association between Serum Lipids Levels and Lipids Oxidizability in Type 2 Diabetes
Objective: Diabetes is the most common metabolic disease. One of the most common problems in diabetic patients is atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease which induced by hyperlipidemia. Also there has been currently great interest in the potential contribution of oxidative stress in development of diabetes complications. The present study was performed to associate between lipid oxidizability a...
متن کاملVitamin D Deficiency is Associated with the Metabolic Syndrome in Subjects with Type 2 Diabetes
Background and Objectives: There is convincing evidence that subjects concomitantly affected by type 2 diabetes (T2D) and metabolic syndrome (MeS) are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Many metabolic derangements in T2D might be attributed to poor vitamin D status. The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations among vitamin D status, MeS and glycemic status in su...
